Brusletto Norgeskniven. The Norwegian Knife! A traditional Norwegian knife (tollekniv) that combines traditional craftsmanship with functional design. Originally launched on the occasion of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim in 1997.
In Norwegian, Norgeskniven means "Norway's Knife" or "the Norwegian Knife".
The knife is a traditional Scandinavian classic, simple and elegant, an all-purpose utility knife, good for everyday use. The blade is made of 12C27 stainless steel, easy to resharpen in the field. It has a Scandi grind and tapers slightly towards the tip, giving good cutting performance and precise control.
The handle is made of curly birch, stained in a reddish colour and treated with oil. The ergonomics are of the classic Scandinavian type, tested by many generations of users. A nickel silver ferrule forms the transition between the blade and the handle. A knob is fixed at the end of the handle, matching the ferrule and the metal band of the sheath in colour. A retention strap tied to the dangler-type belt loop is fastened to the knob, so that the knife stays secure during transport. The knob is not a closing rivet of a rat tail tang construction.
The sheath is made of natural brown cowhide leather, built in the Scandinavian style, with a seam down the middle of the back. Inside is a plastic insert that prevents the blade from cutting the sheath. The top edge of the sheath is wrapped in an engraved metal band that is both decorative and protective. The sheath is decorated with an ornamental motif. The belt loop is movable and works as a dangler, so the sheath adapts easily to positions such as sitting or squatting. A second, smaller leather strap is also attached to the belt loop and holds the handle in the sheath by passing over the knob at the end of the handle. However, with this retention strap fastened over the knob, the mobility of the sheath is pretty much restricted.
Important! The YouTube video shows or may show outdated information, such as the steel grade. Its purpose is only to present certain details that do not appear in the images and to show the size in relation to the hand. The product box comes from older stock and also contains outdated information about the steel. The current information, received from the manufacturer, is in the specifications table. The numerical values are currently taken from the Brusletto website and have not been verified by us; in reality they may differ slightly. Some images may show the old version of the logo on the blade, and all images are for illustration purposes only. Wood is a natural material and every handle is unique, so variations in colour or grain are significant.
